Even greater news! Branch Line wasn't only nominated, it has won the 'Sonderpreis Trickfilm' at 'das 2. Euregionales Jugend Film Festival' in Aachen, Germany.

'Arthur Gorissen erschuf mit „Branch Line“ eine Charakter Satire, die herzzerreißende Geschichte eines Mannes, der seine Braut erwartet, welche er an der „Branch Line“ abholen möchte.

Inhaltlich überzeugt der Film durch seinen bitter süßen Humor.

Hinsichtlich der Technik mögen wir sein schlichtes Design mit starken grafischen Elementen, sowie die wohl proportionierte Mischung aus der digitalen Cut-Out und der Stop-Motion Technik.'

Arthur Gorissen created with "Branch Line" a satirical character driven animation, the heartbreaking story of a man who waits for his bride to arrive, he wants to pick her up at the "Branch Line".

The content of the film is convincing by the use of bittersweet humor.

Strong points of his film are the simple designs with strong graphic elements, as well as the well-proportioned mixture of Digital Cut-out and the stop-motion technique.

a study; painted the bear, tent and trees with waterpaint, photographed the drawings and put them together in photoshop. My painting-skills aren't that good, but i'm pretty happy with the result.

these were about a schoolproject i was working on. The assignment was to make two animations that teaches children how they can make their own games with things they can find in and around the house.

Here are the results! (at last...)

the first one is Jeu de Schoen, a game based on the french game 'Jeu de Boules' or the British game of 'Bowls'.
I'm sorry that the voice-over is missing. That is because the old one had some flaws, and the new one still needs to be recorded. Anyway i hope you'll get the point of the game...

the second one is Rover Race, an animation i made together with a buddy of mine Kasper Werther. This game is based on the art of robbing Banks! The kids in this animation reenact a bank robbery, only there are no dangerous deadly lasers but there is only toilet paper!

I really hope you'll like them!

Have been watching the snooker final this weekend. I really like the sport, although many people think it's boring, which i can understand... But if you'll watch it a bit longer i'm sure you are going to like the snookersport.

During my internship at URREBUK last year i've made an animation for Geen Daden maar Woorden Festival (No deeds but words). This is a Poetry festival in Rotterdam. Every year Sander Alt makes an animation based on a certain poem for this festival. This year it was a poem of Ramsy Nasr called "VOS (stand van de unie)". The animation is about a man who is daydreaming that he is a fox, on the hunt for chickens.

I had the honor to work with Sander and Michiel Wesselius on this animation.

ROVER RACE SETS

like JEU DE SCHOEN, ROVER RACE is also a schoolproject for the website of the childrens TV-show, "Het Klokhuis".
This animation is about two kids who play the Rover Race game. The goal of the game is to cross the room without breaking the toilet-paper. The one who does this the fastest wins!

Here are some images of the sets. Two of the bank and two of the childrens room.
I've made these with the help of Kasper, my fellow student.
(He is a stopmotion and clay master! you should check out his animation: KLAJ!)

Set of the a Bank, here a bankrobber will walk into one of the lasers and will be caught. He should have practiced by playing Rover Race...
This set is in black and white because the children will be watching a movie on television with the bankrobber starring in it!

This is the set of their room with and without the toilet-paper.

This is Anton Chigurh, he is the main villain in the movie: No Country For Old Men.
He is a sociopathic assassin, you can say a real creep! He uses a Cattle Gun to kill his victims.

I wasnt very happy with MJ, it didnt came out the way i wanted.
That's why i made another Cut-Out picture, with Duelling Cowboys. Because as we all know, Cowboys are awesome, (aside from the Brokeback guys because they dont duell, dont shoot people, dont fight in bars, and dont have long coats)

these are some stills from a school project i did in my first year on the HKU.

the assignment was: make a 12 second Lipsync animation.

as you can see it is a Cut-Out Animation. Cut-Out is my favorite kind of animation, i love the work of Lotte Reiniger, and a more recent animator: Jamie Caliri.

it is not very well made, but i still like it.
